The TDG newsletter has not be working. The server technicians said the problem has been solved. So I'm trying to send this newsletter again.
Last month, I finished a modern political science treatise: "Open Democracy" by Helene Landemore.
I generally don't read much from political scientists. Their views on how to improve democracy differ from mine. But I thought I should read this particular book.
And I'm glad. It was good to know where the political scientists are at these days.
Here is my review of this book:

I should add that I have read about 15 books from amateur political scientists over the past 10 years. One of these amateurs is included in this email list. My conclusion: we amateurs have a better understanding of where democracy should go than the experts.
